Educational Qualifications       Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in early chilhood education or a related field with a minimum of 24 credits in early childhood education

Experience                                 Minimum:   Five years of classroom teaching with ages 0-5 in either childcare centers or homes. Solid knowledge of child development, Arizona Department of Health Services child care licensure, Quality First assessment tools, Early Learning Standards and accreditation systems.   Bilingual in Spanish required.

Background:

Easterseals Blake Foundation is a non-profit educational and social services agency originally founded in 1950 as the Cerebral Palsy Foundation of Southern Arizona.  The Children and Family Services Department of the Foundation provides a myriad of supports and resources to families and their children, primarily in southern Arizona.  Programs offer services in the areas of health, parenting, poverty, child abuse and neglect, child development and early education, mental health and inclusion.

Quality First enhances the lives of young children and their families by supporting early childhood providers in regulated centers and homes across Arizona.  As a participant in Quality First!, homes and centers receive coaching and incentives throughout a multi-faceted improvement process

General Description:

The Quality First Coach will, in partnership with providers and based on assessment team findings, provide quality improvement insight through use of a coaching model. The successful coach will facilitate development and implementation of an improvement plan and coordinate the Quality First financial incentives for each center or home. Coaches will also offer curriculum guidance that is developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive in areas such as language, literacy, science, math, creative arts, and creative play.   Foremost, the coach will help centers and homes succeed in achieving improved levels of quality.

The position requires extensive off-site work in child care centers, group home and family child care homes. The work off-site may be 85% or more of the work week, necessitating independent management of time to meet the contractual requirements and the ability to exercise good judgement and decision making.

Travel to and from site visits is necessary, using EBF vehicles or privately owned vehicle (mileage reimbursement stipend is provided). Current insurance and registration are required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to implement all aspects of the Quality First program as described by our contracts
  • Conduct off-site orientation for newly accepted participants
  • Complete the Quality First enrollment agreement with participants
  • Actively seek to develop relationships with participants to build trust and confidence in the program and the processes
  • Work with participants and other consultants to develop Quality Improvement Plans
  • Work collaboratively with Quality First participants and other consultants to define strategies designed to address program goals
  • Make independent decisions based on knowledge of early childhood, adult learning styles and participants individual needs that will assist the participant in making changes to improve the quality of early care and education
  • Be familiar with and able to access community resources for Quality First participants, including other FTF funded.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities, including Quality First Academy, to inform the operation of the program and to assist in decision making.
