AVIVA Visit Supervisor, Part-time

The Visit Supervisor is responsible for providing a safe, parent-child visit environment. The primary purpose of the Visit Supervisor is to allow the room for parenting time as to assist children and their families in maintaining or reestablishing relationships that are healthy and safe for the child. This position is part time, hourly, non-exempt, and located at the Easterseals Blake Foundation- AVIVA Childrenís Center.

Essential Duties & Functions (With or Without Accommodation):

  • Supervise parent-child visits/exchanges at the selected sites as per agency and case-specific guidelines.
  • Monitor the visitation for safe environment and focus full attention on the visit.
  • Enforce rules and guidelines when necessary.
  • Communicate in a firm but respectful manner with all clients.
  • Observe and document (within 24 hours) interaction between children and their parents and intervene if necessary as per agency regulations.
  • Ensure records are maintained in compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
  • Complete all paperwork in a prompt and careful manner, keeping records confidential.
  • Complete and submit paper and/or computer documentation on due dates.
  • Greet custodial and non-custodial parents.
  • Process payments as required.
  • Report immediate concerns or unusual situations to supervisor.
  • Testify if required at Family/Juvenile Court.
  • Work with families in an empathic, professional and objective manner.
  • Participate in preliminary training and ongoing training as needed.
  • Assesses, reports, and documents suspected abuse or neglect to Department of Child Safety and/or local law enforcement agency.
  • Access case files on a regular basis, read and understand guidelines and case-specific rules.
  • Any other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills (with or without accommodation):

  • Strong Clinical knowledge.
  • Understanding of family systems.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development and behavior.
  • A working knowledge of the impact of domestic violence, sexual abuse, child neglect, and substance abuse on families and children.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in using business software such as email, MS Office applications, ADOBE, Foxit, smart phones, office equipment and electronic health records.
  • Ability to check work schedule every Thursday prior to the coming week and understand schedule changes.
  • The ability to perceptively observe child-parent interactions is essential.
  • Must be able to exercise authority and be assertive when needed.
  • Detail-oriented with well-developed problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, project management and multitasking skills.
  • Skill in using business software such as email, MS Office, smart phones, office equipment and electronic health records.
  • Flexibility and ability to respond to changing priorities.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Displays cultural sensitivity and demonstrates the ability to form constructive and collaborative working relationships with others from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate in a culturally inclusive manner and being open to other peopleís differences.

Other requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, run, climb, stoop, kneel, sit, stand, reach, stretch, bend, squat.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles, and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and others.
  • Must be able to remain calm, non-defensive with a supportive attitude during stressful, potential crisis, and crisis situations.
  • Must be able to work in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. The types of situations that may be encountered, particularly when children and adults are involved, cause emotional stress.
  • Must be able to manage high volumes and unpredictability of work.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Must be available to work a varied schedule to include days, evening, and weekends.
  • Must be able to type adequately to complete lengthy reports in limited time.
  • Must be physically able to keep up with children while monitoring visitation and concurrent documentation.
  • Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day.
  • Must be able to manage stress in a fast - paced, unpredictable, and high intensity setting.
  • Must be able to represent EBF in a professional manner in all situations.
  • Must be able to maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Must be in compliance with all EBF and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Educational and Certification Requirements:

  • Highschool diploma or GED required; two years behavioral health work experience; or combination of education and experience.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Experience working with children and families preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid Arizona driverís license and the willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment (personal vehicle in safe/operable condition for work related appointments). Must meet minimum requirements of agency insurance carrier and provide a 39-month driving record from DMV is required at time of hire. Provide and maintain an Arizona Driverís License and proof of auto insurance at all times.
  • Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.
