Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Department: Blake Behavioral Health
Location: Tucson, AZ

General Position Description:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) – Independent Practitioner, is independently licensed by the

Arizona Board of Psychology and is listed as an approved Clinical Supervisor. This position provides supervision and oversight of behavior technicians within the BHS division including training and supervision of RBTs and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBA) and others providing clinical services for children and families.

Essential Duties & Functions (With or Without Accommodation):

  • Provide clinical supervision for direct service employees individually or in group settings.
  • Oversee provision of clinical services ensuring that they are in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Review, interview, hire, train, supervise and support clinical staff including Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT)
  • Provide regularly scheduled administrative, clinical and reflective supervision individually and in a group setting for BHT’s, as necessary.
  • Monitor quality of work and provide feedback to BHT’s through audits, reviews and regular supervision.
  • Provide assessment, clinical evaluation, and services as needed for children and families with complex mental health needs.
  • Coordinate service provision and collaboration with community partners.
  • Coordinate clinical services for children and families referred to BHS
  • Attend required trainings per contractual agreements.
  • Facilitate staff meetings to disseminate information, oversight, and case presentations.
  • Develop and provide trainings as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with the Arizona Board of Psychology requirements for professional disciplines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information.
  • Participate in management team activities.
  • Adhere to and promote others adhering to all program, operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Comply with State, Federal and Other Relevant Regulation/Requirements –

  • Report suspected neglect/abuse to Child Protective Services and supervisor, complete required documentation.
  • Comply with privacy laws and requirements under HIPPA regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures required by EBF.

Knowledge and Skills (with or without accommodation):

  • Best practices in early Childhood Mental Health Assessment, Clinical Interventions, and Applied Behavioral Analysis
  • Child development and human development across the life span
  • Trauma informed care
  • Principles and standards related to professional ethics within EBF and various Behavior Analytic Certification Board (BACB) disciplines
  • Provision of  behavioral health services in Arizona
  • DSM IV TR, DSM V, DC 0-3R and relevant crosswalks
  • Community and state mental health resources and referral processes.
  • General organizational structure of DCS (child welfare) and Behavioral Health systems in Arizona
  • Arizona mandated reporting laws of suspected child abuse and neglect
  • Arizona Board of Psychology requirements for clinical staff
  • Clinical supervision of direct service staff              
  • Differential diagnosis and clinical interventions for children and their families.
  • Writing and reviewing clinical documentation, including clinical notes, treatment plans, progress review and comprehensive clinical assessments
  • Ability to support staff in a wide variety of clinical needs including crisis management, ongoing therapeutic services, terminating services and clinical writing skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with community and state agencies
  • Professional meeting facilitation
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, supervising and terminating staff within EBF procedures and policies
  • Using basic management information systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, etc.)
  • Participating on interdisciplinary teams within EBF, locally and/or statewide.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree Applied Behavior Analysis or related field (must be a BCBA)
  • Independent licensure by the Arizona Board of Psychology
  • Approved to provide supervision by the BACB
  • Experience providing services with children and their families preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Employment contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background check
  • Personal vehicle in safe/operable condition for work related appointments
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card at all times
  • Provide and maintain an Arizona Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance at all times
  • Driving record that meets the standards of the agency at all times
  • Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aide certification

Other physical requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, run, climb, stoop, kneel, sit, stand, reach, stretch, bend, squat, and other physical activities.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Must be able to remain calm, non-defensive with a supportive attitude during stressful, potential crisis, and crisis situations.
  • Must be able to work in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. The types of situations that may be encountered, particularly when children and adults are involved, cause emotional stress.
  • Must be able to manage high volumes and unpredictability of work.
  • Must be able to remain flexible and reprioritize according to the changing demands of the day.
  • Must be able to manage stress in a fast - paced, unpredictable, and high intensity setting.
  • Must be able to adapt to diverse cultural environments and communicate in a culturally inclusive manner.
  • Must be able to represent EBF in a professional manner in all situations.
  • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and others.
