Direct Support Professional - Care Giver (Convent)

Position: Direct Support Professional (Caregiver) Eastside Tucson

Open Schedule: Day Shift, Tuesday-Friday

We offer paid training, excellent benefits, and a reliable work schedule. Provide direct care and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home environment supported with personal protective equipment and universal safety measures.
 

Summary: Easterseals Blake Foundation is seeking direct professionals to work in a collaborative environment supporting individuals with disabilities in their homes and the community.

Supported Living Direct Professionals work directly with people in their homes and in the community, assisting them to develop a sense of identity, self-worth and independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assistance in the following areas
  • Meal prep
  • Upkeep of home, through innovation, take daily chores/duties and turn them into interesting individual learning experiences.
  • Community activities, Plan and conduct incredible activities and everyday fun
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Bill pay
  • Appointments
  • Transportation
  • Social gatherings
  • Medication management
  • Personal hygiene
  • Function as an enthusiastic, competent, contributing member of EBF staff
  • Attend and participate in required staff meetings
  • Promote and follow practices that support health and safety of staff
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals we serve, team members, families and state agencies.  Encourage positive team work and problem solve in a  non-hostile manner
  • Complete paperwork within required timelines
  • Attend all necessary training within the time lines established at the time you were hired
  • Write in "in-house" communication log after every shift worked. Maintain and monitor daily communication log between day program and Supported Living program
  • Maintain agreed upon work schedule, be punctual, and use time effectively
  • Use supervision effectively, accept feedback in a professional manner, and accept responsibility for job performance
  • Communicate essential information with ESBF team leads and supervisors accurately and in a timely manner
  • Understand and maintain private and sensitive information within the confines of need-to-know parameters

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings afternoon and evening hours and at least 1 weekend day;
  • Ability to speak and write effectively in English.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and differences.
  • Ability to complete job responsibilities autonomously without daily oversight.
  • An ability to acknowledge, respect, and build upon the diversity of person served and their families with regard to such factors as race, ethnicity, family constellation, gender, socioeconomic status, values, and traditions.
  • An ability to teach others using anticipatory guidance, modeling, coaching, reflection, and role-play 
  • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles, and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and others.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as face mask, gown, goggles and gloves, for any amount of time necessary to provide a physical barrier to protect the employee and others.
  • At a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Provide and maintain Valid Arizona Driverís License, Registration & Insurance
  • Ability to maintain a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times
  • Experience providing personal care and/or working with individuals with a developmental disability
  • Must be 21 years of age or older for driving position.
